The Transportation Career Development Association of BC (transCDA) was formed in 2008. transCDA has been established by the transportation industry in BC to provide leadership in the establishment, maintenance and support of industry training programs and career development services that meet the needs of individuals, employers and industry in general and broadly represents the transportation industry. Transportation activities all depend on a skilled workforce; attracting more people into the industry through industry training and career development programs and a range of career paths is a critical component of transCDA’s mandate.
tranCDA is recognized by the Industry Training Authority (ITA) as an Industry Training Organization (ITO) for British Columbia’s transportation industry. It is an incorporated society governed by a Board of Directors of ten transportation-sector representatives that oversees twenty-six ITA apprentice programs, four of which are Accredited (Red Seal) programs and altogether involve over 2,500 apprentices. ITOs are the mechanism by which the ITA gives industry lead responsibility for improving industry training in a specific sector. ITOs are established by industry and are not-for-profit legal entities with responsibility for designated industry training programs.
