Dear transCDA Stakeholder,
We are writing today to give you advance notice of an online survey we will be conducting in the next few
weeks, about the structure of our organization and the services we provide to transportation industry
employers in BC. We would appreciate your help in distributing this survey to your members and other relevant stakeholders.
The Transportation Career Development Association of BC ("transCDA") was formed in 2008 by the
transportation industry in BC to provide leadership in the establishment, maintenance and promotion of
industry training programs and career development services that meet the needs of individuals, employers
and industry in general.
tranCDA is recognized by the Industry Training Authority (ITA) as an Industry Training Organization (ITO) for
BC's transportation sector. ITOs are the mechanism by which the ITA gives industry lead responsibility for
improving industry training in a specific sector.
transCDA is an incorporated society governed by a Board of Directors of 10 transportation-sector
representatives representing all key areas of transportation in the province: trucking, rail, road, transit,
aerospace and shipping. It oversees 26 ITA apprentice programs - four of which are Accredited (Red Seal)
programs - that altogether involve over 2,500 current apprentices.
transCDA has recently retained a consultant to help its Board of Directors reach out to stakeholders,
particularly employers who have an interest in its training programs. Therefore, in addition to some in-depth
interviews, Human Capital Strategies will be conducting an online survey starting later this month. The
primary goal of the survey is to determine what employers' needs are in the area of industry training, and
how transCDA can better assist in meeting those needs.
We are giving you a heads up about this survey because we would appreciate your help in distributing it to
your members and/or within your stakeholder networks. Strong participation by employers in the sector will
help us ensure we structure our organization and services to be beneficial to the all aspects of the industry.
In approximately two weeks, we will be in touch again with a notice about the survey that includes an
introduction, a link to the online survey, and a deadline by which we need to receive responses. It is our
hope that you will be able to distribute this via your email distribution list to members/ stakeholders or publish
it a newsletter or e-bulletin.
We will follow-up to discuss this with you in the next week, to determine if you are able to assist us and
answer any questions you may have about the survey. Should you wish to reach me in the meantime, please
call 604-998-4512.
Sincerely,
|
